Costa Rica
Hot Springs
Let a volcano warm the water while you do nothing at all.
Tabacón's thermal river runs warm straight off Arenal's flank, threading through rock pools and waterfalls built for nobody in particular — just heat rising from below. Drive two hours west and Río Perdido swaps jungle for a canyon of turquoise thermal water cut into volcanic rock, while Rincón de la Vieja adds bubbling mud pots to the mix. Best after a full day of hiking or ziplining, when the muscles ask and the mountain answers.
